Ergonomic Adjustable Miniature 8 Indent Crimp Tool

Built on the legacy of the original AFM8®, the AFM8-ERGO (M22520/2-01) introduces ergonomic enhancements to enhance the user experience. The AFM8-ERGO maintains the same mil-spec qualification as its predecessor while incorporating significant improvements including contoured handles, ergonomic grips, better selector visibility, and enhanced gaging reliability. These new enhancements reduce operator fatigue and provide the operator with an overall improved crimping experience.

The AFM8-ERGO is designed for use on wires 32-20 AWG found in most miniature and sub-miniature connector types that are widely used in aerospace electronic systems. The AFM8-ERGO is fully compatible with DMC’s M22520/2 accessories, allowing for a seamless transition to this tool.

The AFM8-ERGO contains four symmetrically arranged preci¬sion indenters to ensure uniform crimping. A positive ratchet mechanism guarantees the completion of the full crimp cycle before the tool can be reopened, promoting consistent performance and process integrity. A new and improved selector setting knob allows the user to easily adjust the depth of the indenters, accommodating a range of contact and wire sizes.

K-Type positioners adapt the tool frame for a particular application. The data plate on each positioner designates which contacts the positioner accommodates for its wire size and indicates the selector setting. The positioner is designed to be easily removed and changed.

Periodic gaging is recommended to ensure accurate calibration. This is easily accomplished with the M22520/3-1 “GO/NO-GO” gage (DMC part no. G125) on selector setting #8.
