The KY 196A VHF Communications Transceiver features 760 channels, a panel mount design, and a frequency range from 118 MHz to 136.975 MHz in 25 kHz channel increments. To simplify operation, the digital display show both active and standby frequencies. A ""flip-flop"" switch provides pilots simple frequency switching between active and standby frequency. Pilots can remotely call up and cycle through nine pilot-programmable channels from nonvolatile storage memory.

The CI 401-220 is certified for GPS and GPS WAAS Class Gamma 1 equipment and not compliant for GPS WAAS Class Gamma 2 and 3 applications.

The KY 196B VHF communications transceiver meets the ICAO EUR Region's 8.33-kHz channel spacing requirements. It also has 25 kHz channeling for the U.S. Offering a display range of 118.000 MHz to 136.990 MHz, and providing a total of 2,280 channels in Europe and 760 in the U.S. For European use, the KY 196B also has FM immune compliance for ICAO Annex 10.
Version 064-01084-0201 is for the CNI5000 and designed for mounting without faceplate.
